Our Condolences...

http://wabash.edu/news/displaystory.cfm?news_ID=7125

...go out to the Richard O. Ristine family. As Wabash President Pat White said, "He was the quintessential Wabash gentleman. ... He loved Wabash with a deep and abiding love and served the College in extraordinary ways over so many years. We will all miss him so very much." Godspeed Mr. Ristine.

Finisher Number Two!

We have another finisher of Summer at the Carnegie Museum! Kiersten, of Tuttle Middle School, wrote this about the museum: "I liked it because I learned a lot about stuff I didn't know. I thought the part about looking at the different animal hair was really cool."

Congratulations Kiersten!

Summer at the ^Carnegie Museum--Completed!

Well, this is a rather unexpected blog. Yesterday, we had our first person complete Summer at the ^Carnegie Museum. Amelia, 8, brought her mom to the museum every day, and had this to say about the program:

"I liked to listen to my heart beat. It was neat. I liked the Before TV gallery. I didn't like carrying the 5 pounds of fat. It was heavy. I liked the switchboard. It was awesome!"

In addition to completing the Summer at the ^Carnegie Museum, Amelia also completed the summer reading program at the library. Amazing! So, to Amelia, we say congratulations!

Little Artists, Big Artist

This morning, the Carnegie Museum had the pleasure of hosting two beginning artists and one professional artist. While Kent Rushing, the winning designer of the new mural, busily worked away, our two younger artists tried their hand at sketching near the medical exhibit. Who knows--perhaps these two aspiring artists will join Kent in the Carnegie Museum one day! Only time will tell!

Also, check out our new Museum Desktop Backgrounds that are posted on Flickr!

Have you been to Prom in the last fifteen or nineteen years?

If so, then we want your pictures! Show those older folks what Montgomery County proms were like in the era when Clinton ruled the White House and the Power Rangers were still new. For those graduates of the new Millennium, show those folks from the 90's how to party Millennial style. (Because we all know the Soulja Boy is WAY better than the Macarena!) But regardless of your graduation year, we need your help for the upcoming exhibit "Montgomery County Proms". Remember: History started yesterday. Don't let the old folks out-donate for this exhibit! Museum hours are ten to five, Wednesday through Saturday.

If you remember these, then we want your prom pictures...

We Want Prom Photos!

Did you attend a Montgomery County Prom back when people still used 8-tracks? Do you remember wearing a blue leisure suit just because it was cool? Or did you dance the night away to the timeless classic, 'Never Gonna Give You Up'? If so, then we want you to share your memories. Please help us as we prepare for our upcoming exhibit, "Montgomery County Proms" by donating pictures, dresses, memories, and anything else that would teach youngsters what the 'old days' were like. Museum hours are from ten to five, Wednesday through Saturday.

Astronomy Exhibit

Come and see the latest contribution to the Carnegie Museum by the students at Tuttle Middle School. Learn about Galileo, make a refracting telescope, and help finish the puzzle of the old Library Mosaic. At the Carnegie Museum, there's a little something for everyone!

Summer at the ^Carnegie Museum

This week the Carnegie Museum kicked off its summer program, entitled Summer at the ^Carnegie Museum. Based off the popular Ben Stiller movie, this fun filled program is for preschoolers to eighth graders and has enough discovery and small prizes for everyone! (Participants only need six visits and a smile.)

Not have enough time in your schedule? Don't worry: The program lasts clear until August first. Play with a microscope, a stethoscope, and an old telephone switchboard! See an old printing press, a horse and buggy, and listen to local doctors in our medical exhibit as they describe the funs of the medical profession. With local history for the adults and fun science exhibits for the kids, at the Carnegie Museum, there's a little something for everyone!

See! Play! Explore! At the… Carnegie Museum!

Open from ten to five, Wednesday's through Saturday's.

Historic Marker Dedication

On the first of May, the Carnegie Museum of Montgomery County had the honor of adding a little history of it's own. While the sky was rainy, the mood was cheerful for the unveiling of the historic marker, celebrating the one hundred and seven year old building as the first Carnegie Library to open in Indiana. Check out the pictures below! (More to come.)
